<p>According to this method, at at least one point of the surface of this stretch of water, the resistivity of a surface layer of this stretch of water is measured, and the position of this measurement point on the surface of this stretch of water is determined. The device comprises: a body 1 able to float on the surface of the stretch of water 3, electrodes 2 which are electrically isolated from one another; means for measuring the resistance between the said electrodes, and radio means for remotely transmitting a measurement datum which depends on the value of this resistance.
