PURPOSE:To use only one core in casting pistons by designing a piston so that the surface of the internal cavity of a piston is alined with the inner end faces of piston pin bosses and thinning hollows are formed on the exterior of the piston. CONSTITUTION:The interior surface 18 between piston pin bosses 14 and the piston head 16 is aligned with the inner end faces of the piston pin bosses or internally protruded to provide a draft. Thinning hollows 20 are formed externally in the portion corresponding to the interior surface 18. Thus the cavity 12 of the piston having no cave-in, the piston can be cast using only one core. |
