The bottling machine with a closing system includes two columns each with its own star wheel conveying members to apply the metal caps, then spherical decorative caps which are screwed on top of them. Each column has a channel which slopes downwards towards the applicator point as the bottles are conveyed past. At the applicator point, the shaft for the decorative caps (12) has a cover with an end part (22) formed by a swinging flap held down by a leaf spring on top. Mounted on the sides (16) of the shaft are sleeves (19) each holding a locating ball (17) with a spring (24) behind it, which engages the outside of the spherical caps. Adjacent to these locating devices is a photoelectric monitoring system (20, 21).
