<p>Bis-(lactam-N-carboxylic acid esters) of bifunctional alcohols are prepd. by reaction of lactam alkyl ethers of formula (pref. caprolactam-o-methyl ether) (where R = 1-4 C alkyl; n = 3-11) with bis-chloro-formic acid esters of 2-10C bifunctional aliphatic alcohols at 80 - 140 degrees C (pref. 1,6-hexanediol-bis-chlorocarbonic acid ester). The cpds. are used as activators for anionic polymerisation of lactams.</p> |
