Lock for vehicle door - has fork and catch with low force blocking arm

The lock assembly for a vehicle door has a casing (1) with a notch (7) to receive the keeper (33) on the door frame. This keeper is held by a fork (17) on a lever which is biased by a spring (29) towards its releasing position. The lever is held in its locked position by a catch (25) on a second lever (11), which is blocked by an arm (12). The blocking arm can be lifted with very little force, and thus is suitable for electrical operation. Once lifted, the force rotates under the action of the spring pushing the catch clear. The catch will engage either arm of the form (14, 15) thus giving a safety position during closing and safeguarding against accidental release.
