<p>An elongated hollow element (10), such as a tube, is cut off by means of a rotatable milling cutter (18). In order to increase the cutting speed and decrease the tool cost the elongated element (10) is simultaneously rotated at least during the final phase of the cut-off operation. Means (20, 21) are provided for moving the cut-off tool (18) laterally in a transversal plane through the elongated element (10). </p> |
