PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of an apparatus made of an austenitic stainless steel in a nitric acid soln. contg. oxidizable metal ions without increasing radioactive waste by using a baser stainless steel than the austenitic stainless steel as a galvanic anode for electrolytic protection. CONSTITUTION:When an apparatus handling a nitric acid soln. contg. oxidizable metal ions in a plant for reprocessing nuclear fuel, etc., is made of an austenitic stainless steel, a baser metal than the stainless steel is connected as a galvanic anode to the stainless steel and electric current for electrolytic protection is supplied. A stainless steel having >=2wt.% Si content or, a martensitic or ferritic stainless steel having 12-14% Cr content is used as the baser metal. |
