The vacuum current interrupter comprises a stationary contact (7) and a moving contact (8) as well as an evacuated encapsulation sheath (1) which encloses these two contacts. At least one of these contacts consists of a copper-based alloy which contains 4.0 to 9.4% by weight of aluminium, 0.5 to 3.5% by weight of beryllium, and 0.4 to 1.4% by weight of antimony, the remainder consisting of copper. Such a vacuum current interrupter is resistant to high voltage and has an excellent self-welding resistance capability. In addition, the copper-based alloys which are used here lead to less environmental damage, because of their smaller beryllium content in comparison with corresponding alloys which were used in the past. <IMAGE> |
