<p>In the tester, single modules provide each a function to be measured, and their outputs are read out a digital voltmeter. Certain modules include a rectifier for handling alternate currents. For voltage measurements the module input function is provided by resistive array; for currents it is a shunt array. Another module includes a constant-current resistor bridge, carrying a platinum element for surface temperature measurements. For non-linear components the module contains a transformer: the primary carries a potentiometer, a capacitor, and a thyristor (Th). A clock (H) triggers periodically the thyristor into conduction, and the pulse amplitude at the secondary depends on potentiometer setting. The secondary carries a resistor in series with the component (Z) under test, and a capacitor which can be commulated in parallel to the resistor or to the component, providing a measure of the voltage applied to the component and of the resulting current through it.</p> |
