The device contains a hollow rotor (3), slides (5) which are arranged in radially displaceable fashion on the rotor, and a mechanism (9, 11, 12) for adjusting the slides. Each slide (5) is provided with a roller (8) which senses the surface of the joint of the pipes (7). The adjusting mechanism of the slides contains slotted links (9), one end of which is held in mounting brackets (10) of a ring which is freely rotatable on the rotor and the other end of which is articulated on a sliding block (11), each of the sliding blocks being capable of displacement in the radial direction in the respective slide (5). The drive (22) for the rotor and the adjusting mechanism for the slides has two driven shafts (20, 21), one (20) of which is kinematically connected to the rotor (3) and the other (21) is kinematically connected to the ring (10). A device (19) for the programmable control of the difference between the rotational speeds of the shafts mentioned is furthermore provided. A device of this design for removing welding flash makes possible the achievement of a high output and finish, irrespective of the shape of the welded pipes. <IMAGE>
