Detergent compsn. contg. N-vinyl! imidazole polymer - as discoloration-inhibiting additive

Detergent compositions contain anionic and/or non-ionic surfactants, framework substances and other usual additives, with addn. of 0.1-10 wt.% water-soluble or -dispersible N-vinyl imidazole homo- or co-polymer. The polymer additive is more effective than polyvinyl pyrrolidone in preventing transfer of colour to white or light-coloured textiles during washing with coloureds, and can be used in detergents contg. anionic surfactants. Pref. content of N-vinyl imidazole polymer is 0.2-5 (0.5-4)wt.%. Polymerisation grade is 10-10000(20-5000).
