PURPOSE:To obtain stable traveling of a motorcycle at a medium- or high-speed running by providing a front-wheel-helm-detecting means in addition to a rear-wheel-helm-controlling means, which keeps the ratio between the front wheel helm and the rear wheel helm at a preset value if the front wheel helm detected by the detecting means is smaller than the preset angle and which fixed the rear wheel at a helm angle corresponding to the preset angle if the detected helm angle is greater than the preset value. CONSTITUTION:When a front wheel 3 is steered to the right or to the left by a steering handle 5 connected to a steering rod 7 and a steering shaft 5a, a rear-wheel-steering unit 8, which is arranged beneath the steering shaft 5a, operated, and hydraulic pressure is generated in right and left master-cylinders 12a and 12b. The hydraulic pressure thus generated is transferred to a wheel cylinders 19a and 19b of a rear wheel 18 in order to steer the rear wheel 18 to the right or to the left. In this constitution, if the helm angle of the front wheel 3 is small, both front and rear wheels are steered at the same phase and at a preset ratio. Therefore, the angle of rotation of the steering handle 5 can easily be predicted. If the helm angle of the front wheel 3 is greater than the preset value, a cam mechanism 15 of the rear-wheel-controlling means operates in order to fix the rear wheel 18 at a preset angle. Therefore, a driver's sense of incongruity during the driving due to a difference of the helm angle between the front wheel and the rear wheel can be eliminated. |
