Benzoxazine and benzothiazine derivs. - useful as antiinflammatories, antipyretics and intermediates

Benzoxazine and benzothiazine derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. In (I), R is H or lower dialkylamino; X and Y are O or S; Z is opt. branched 1-5C alkylene. Cpds. (I) are useful as pharmaceutical intermediates and themselves have antiinflammatory and antipyretic activity. Cpds. (I) can be prepd. by reacting a cpd. of formula (II): with a reactive (thio)carbonyl cpd., e.g. a dialkyl (thio)carbonate, (thio)phosgene, N,N-(thio)carbonyldiimidazole or an alkyl chloro(thio)formate.
