A water measuring and control device (3) is inserted into the plant support medium soil (2). It has a long hollow body (7) which is closed at its top end in an air-tight manner and accepts a float (10). At its bottom end, the hollow body (7) has a porous metering casing (6) which is inserted into the soil of the plant pot. A switch (5) is arranged on the outside of the hollow body (7) and controls the flow of the water in the water feed line (4) according to the movement of the float.
