[Also in Divisions B1, G1] Apparatus for diluting bromine see also Fig.1, (not shown) consists of one or two vessels 1, 1<SP>1</SP> for bromine and a dilution vessel 2. Water is first admitted by valve 3 to vessels 1, 1<SP>1</SP> and forms a brominated water which passes to vessel 2. Valve 3 is then closed and valves 4, 5 opened to admit water to 2 at two different levels whereby a highly diluted brominated water is discharged at 15. The valves 4, 5 may be replaced by a single valve or by a self-operated pressure regulator. The valves may be operated manually or by a system which can be adjusted manually to vary the frequency and/or period of operation, or operated by a tuning mechanism. In the embodiment shown the bromine content of water in a swimming pool 16 circulating in a filtering circuit 20, 21 is measured continuously by withdrawing a sample at 23 and passing it through a measuring device M (see Division G1) which actuates an electronic or electro-mechanical' dosimeter D which operates the valves for periods and at intervals determined by whether the bromine concentration is above, below or equal to the desired level. |
