1441513 Cationic perinaphthazole-tetrahydroquinoline dyes BAYER AG 11 Oct 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 44170/74 Heading C4P Cationic dyestuffs have the Formula (I) in which R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl or an alkylene radical bonded to the naphthalene ring in the #- position, R 1 is H or alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, and An<SP>(-)</SP> is an anion, and in which the cyclic and acyclic radicals are opt. non-ionically substd. and in which other, opt. non-ionically substd. carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings are opt. fused with the rings. The dyes are prepared (a) by condensing a naphtholactam-(1,8) with the appropriate tetrahydroquinoline at 50-150‹ C., (b) using a functionally equivalent compound, with a substituent which can be split off as an anion, instead of the naphtholactam, or (c) by alkylation of the compound (I) where R=H and R 1 may be an acyl radical which is then removed by hydrolysis. The dyestuffs are suitable for dyeing, printing and bulk dyeing materials containing acid groups, e.g. polyacrylonitrile and polymerized vinylidene dicyanide or of acid-modified polyesters or polyamides. They may also be used for other applications of cationic dyestuffs, such as dyeing or printing cellulose acetate, coir, jute, sisal and silk, tannin-treated cotton and paper, and in ball-pen pastes, rubber-stamp inks and in flexographic printing. |
