Prepn. of pyridoxamine deriv. of di:thiocarboxylic acid - by oxidn. of the sodium or tertiary amine salt

Prepn. of bis-N- (2-methyl-3-hydroxy-5-hydroxymethyl-4-pyrifyl)methyl thiox- arbamoyl disulphide (I) comprises reaction of dithiocarboxylic acid with the sodium or t-amine salt of pyridoxamine in presence of O2 in a slightly acid medium. The prod. is used in human and veterinary medicine. Typiclly, bis-N- (2-methyl-3-hydroxy-5-hydroxymethyl-4-pyridyl)methyl thioc- arbamoyl disulphide was prepd. in 65% yield by bubbling O2 through a soln. of sodium dithiocarboxylate and pyridoxamine in water at pH.
