The shaft bearing for fractional horsepower DC motors is designed for ease of manufacture and installations. It maintains close tolerance in operation which is essential for applications such as in motorised cameras, clock etc. The end cap of the motor housing has an extension (3) which accommodates the shaft bearing (4). The bearing comprises a number of symmetrically arranged webs (7) whose outer ends are held by the cap flange. The webs hold flat bands (5) of equal length in the form of an equilateral triangle, each side being held under tension against the motor shaft (6). The straps may be formed as a one-piece plastics moulding using injection techniques. The material used is impact- and wear-resistant plastics such as polyamide. The flat bands are made convex in the region of the shaft so that the contact area is minimised.
