<p>Flexible upholstery panels for the backs and seats of tubular framed chairs have parallel abutting and co-planar plastics cables (1) of equal length with their ends united by perpendicular 'U' section anchor bars (2). The panels are fastened to the chair by winding the anchored ends round a member (M) of the frame and secured by screws (4) through a curved section retaining bar (3). The cables (1) thus span two parallel frame members. The anchor bar may be solid with the cable ends welded into holes, or may be of U section, with the ends welded between the legs of the 'U'. As a further alternative, the 'U' section may be extended into 'Y' section by a web of plain laminar or keyhole cross-section. The web is then used to seat the retaining bar (3).</p> |
