Machining arrangement for strain gauge seating - has abrasive jet nozzle mounted on double eccentric to erode groove in work surface

The arrangement is used to machine a groove, when a strain gauge is mounted on a part of a machine in which the internal stresses are to be measured. The arrangement consists of a mounting block (6) in which a jet (13) is mounted on a double eccentric. The block has four swivelling legs (4) with pivoting feet, so that the block can be mounted on a curved surface. The eccentric with the jet is rotated by an electric motor, so that the jet moves round the strain gauge to erode a groove. The inner eccentric is used to adjust the dia. of the groove to be machined.
