An integrated steam-cracking process involves (a) mixing a gas contg. H2 with a mixture of an S-contg. liquid petroleum feed and an unstable, unsatd. cracked fraction obtd. from a steam-cracking process, (b) hydrogenating and desulphurising this mixture over a catalyst, (c) collecting a gas fraction for recycling from the treated mixture, (d) fractionating the treated mixture, to give a stable fraction with a reduced content of unsaturateds and a heavy fraction with a reduced S content, (e) steam-cracking the heavy fraction, (f) collecting an unstable, unsatd. fraction from the products of the steam-cracking, and (g) returning this unstable fraction to step (a). The process is particularly used for cracking heavy petroleum feed, to prepare ethylene and a range of other products from propylene to tar. |
