The food storage and serving unit comprises a serving trolley (II) which can be moved into a cooling or refrigeration unit (I). The lower part of the latter is roughly U-shaped to accommodate the serving trolley. The serving trolley can be of lightweight construction for easy movement around the serving floor but when not in use can be housed in the cooling unit for good keeping of the food. The upper part of the cooling unit can be designed as a glass window whose base is formed by the surface of the trolley (I). A fan unit is mounted inside the upper part to circulate the cooling air throughout the trolley.
