<p>1477257 Mixing apparatus SIEMENS AG 4 July 1975 [2 Aug 1974] 28373/75 Heading B1C A static mixer comprises an elongate tubular casing 1 through which media to be mixed may flow, a central co-extending core member 7 and helical baffle plates 23 arranged between said core and casing with the turns of one plate interposed between the turns of the other or of two other plates, the plates extending to the inner wall of the casing and serving to define a plurality of adjacent helical flow paths 10, 11 at least one of the plates being interrupted to allow crossflow 13 between the adjacent passages. In the figure shown the interruptions in baffle plate 2 are not seen, as located rearwardly of a central support member 7, the staggered locations of the interruptions preventing undesirable axial throughflow of the media. In a second embodiment (Figs. 4, 5 not shown) the casing is of truncated conical form. Reference is made to use of the casing wall for heat exchange with the flowing media as they are mixed.</p> |
