Toxic load control of sewage plant - by measuring oxygen demand difference between standard and actual mixture

Method is based on a comparison of the oxygen demand of a sewage sample and of a standard nutrient solution. The oxygen demand is measured in regular intervals on a first mixture of activated sludge, the standard nutrient solution and drinking water. In the second mixture, the drinking water is replaced by the sewage to be checked. Detected toxic substances can be by-passed into special tanks before they cause damage to the biogenic matter.
