A flanged spool (1) for the location of the end of strip material (9) has an axial slot for the insertion of the strip. One end of the spool is counterbored (6) for the location of a clamping bush. The bush is held in position by a central shoulder screw which provides a rotary location. The clmping bush which overlaps the spool slot (4) has a slot which engages a corner of the inserted strip (9). By rotating the bush slightly, the profiled counter bore (6b) compresses the slot and thus clamps the strip corner.
