1497819 Recovery of o-phenylphenol STAMICARBON BV 16 May 1975 [24 May 1974] 20986/75 Heading C2C A process for the recovery of ortho-phenylphenol with an orthocyclohexyl-phenol content not exceeding 5% by weight from a mixture of ortho-phenylphenol containing more than 0À05 gram of ortho-cyclohexylphenol per gram of ortho-phenylphenol, comprises treating the said mixture with an aqueous hydroxide solution or a salt solution of an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal in an amount such that less than 1 mole-equivalent of hydroxide solution is present per mole of ortho-phenylphenol, extracting the resulting alkaline mixture with an organic solvent, and recovering the ortho-phenylphenol from the acqueous phase obtained in the extraction.
