<p>1451209 Polyalkylene terephthalate resin compositions CELANESE CORP 28 Dec 1973 [12 April 1973] 60133/73 Heading C3R A moulding composition comprises an intimate blend of either polypropylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate resin, each having an intrinsic viscosity of from 0À75- 1À5 dl./g. as measured on a 8% wt. solution in orthochlorophenol at 25‹ C., with a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene bis fatty acid amide in which the alkylene group preferably has 2- 12 carbon atoms and the fatty acid group 2-30 carbon atoms, and a reinforcing filler. The amide is preferably present in an amount of from 0À01-1% wt. of the composition. Preferred amides are ethylene bis-stearamide, hexylene bis lauramide and ethylene bis 3(3,5- ditertiary butyl, 4-hydroxyphenol) propanamide. Suitable reinforcing fillers are glass fibres, asbestos fibres, talc, calcium silicate, cellulosic fibres, cotton fabric, paper, synthetic fibres and metallic powders. The reinforcing filler is preferably used in an amount of from 2-80 wt. per cent based on the total composition. The composition may optionally contain a flame retardant such as pentabromotoluene, tetrabromo, or -chloro-phthalic anhydride, 3,5,3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP> - tetrabromobiphenyl ether, 3,5,3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP>- tetrachlorobiphenyl sulphide, 3,5-dichloro-3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP>- dibromobiphenyl sulphoxide, 2,4 - dichloro- 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP> - tribromobiphenylmethane, decabromobiphenyl ether, hexabromo- or hexachloro - biphenyl, 3,5,3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1</SP> - tetrabromo, 2,21- bis - (4,4<SP>1</SP> - dihydroxyphenyl) - propane and 3,5 - dichloro - 3<SP>1</SP>,5<SP>1 </SP>- dibromo - 2,2<SP>1</SP> - bis - (4,4<SP>1</SP>- dimethoxyphenyl) propane which may be in admixture with phosphorus, arsenic, antimony and bismuth containing compounds, preferably the oxides thereof. In the examples moulding compositions are described comprising a glass fibre reinforced polybutylene terephthalate and any one of the above mentioned alkylene bis fatty acid amides.</p> |
