The roller shutter, e.g. used as a garage door, or as additional protection on a door or window, can be rolled up in a spiral configuration on a retainer, and unrolled to effect closure. It provides effective sealing even if the opening to be closed presents an uneven stop face for its free end. Here the free end of the shutter is in the form of a closing rail-type bar (24) with a stem (24b) projecting at right angles from the shutter. This has an elastically deformable sealing element fastened to it, parallel to the bar, and when the shutter is fully unrolled this moves into sealing contact with one of the boundary faces of the opening. The sealing element (38) may be channel-shaped, and made as a thin elastic strip of plastic, with its lengthways edges fixed to those of the stem.
|
