The electronic data text transmission system comprises a central process or unit (12) connected via a main data bus (16) to a number of input terminals (10) and associated display units (22), output units (26) and multiplexers (14). Each multiplexer is associated with a memory (18) and several replay control units which control the respective video display units. A character generator (23) used in conjunction with the replay control units is brought into operation by the multiplexers. The control units contain address registers, character registers, margin register for line end position and facility for character position and line length control. The system offers faster operating times for a larger number of connected terminals.
