The protection equipment is for the user of a portable fire extinguisher allowing him or her to keep both hands free to manipulate the extinguisher itself. It comprises two entirely transparent half-cylindrical plates extensible on the foldable against the top of the extinguisher. The plates are held in the protective position by a spring catch and a thin rigid peripheral frame. The mounting can be so arranged as to allow the equipment to swing upwards into the protective position or fold downwards into the stowed one. The two plates cna slide on each other, allowing adjustment of overall height.
