Mercerising fluid cleansing process - uses electrodes in a vertical tank as fluid moves downwards

The process to regenerate mercerising fluid, and remove impurities, uses a vertical vessel for the used fluid to be passed in for storage. The soiled fluid passes in from above, while the clean fluid emerges from the base. Electrode grids are located between the inlet and outlet, spaced from each other. An overflow edge for the vessel is positioned above the fluid inlet. The system gives a low-cost process for removing impurities from used mercerising fluid. The impurities removed include substances accompanying cellulose, residual starch size, dyestuffs, alkaline and alkaline earth carbonates, polysaccharides and built-up cotton impurities.
