1485785 Fertiliser spreader VICON NV 20 Sept 1974 [26 Sept 1973 17 April 1974] 41054/74 Heading AID A device for spreading fertiliser comprises a hopper 1 having at least one outlet port, a spreading member 2, and a closure member in the form of a disc 6 having an opening and operated by a lever 16 characterised such that in one position of the lever 16 (dashed lines - in operative position) the opening does not communicate with the outlet port and in an operative position (solid line) the degree of communication between the opening and the outlet port can be varied by operating a linkage 7 which comprises a first member 8 or 9 and a second member 9 or 8 screwably cooperable with the first member for varying the degree of communication between the opening and the port. Preferably the first member is a screw spindle 8 having resilient tags 14 and the second member is a rotatable screw sleeve 9 having recesses 15 engaged by the tags 14 at different positions. In the embodiment of figure 2 the screw sleeve 9 is pivotally connected to the disc 6 via a rod 10 whereby movement of the sleeve varies the degree of communication between the port and the opening. The screw sleeve 9 may be connected to the lever 16 while the spindle 8 is integral with the rod 10. In another embodiment (Fig. 6) the spindle 8 is coupled to the plate 6 by an ear (21) Fig. 8 (not shown) remote from the end of the spindle 8 which is connected to the lever 16, and the sleeve 9 with its stop 20 cooperatively engages a stop 19 mounted on a frame of the device. The stop 19 is adjustably mounted on the frame by slots 22 so that in a zero position of the sleeve 9 and in a zero position of the disc 6 (viz, the closed position of the disc 6) the stop 19 is shifted so that it abuts the stop 20 whereby moving the lever 16 to the operative position moves the spindle 8 over a distance defined by the stops 20 and 19 to adjust the disc 6 over this distance. Alternatively the sleeve 9, the screw spindle 8 and the stop 19 may be arranged symmetrically in order to use the stop 19 for defining the maximum opening of the disc 6. The sleeve 9 may have the lugs 14 and the spindle 8 may have the recesses 15. Also, the number of lugs and recesses may be varied to vary the number of positions of the disc 6. |
