1450952 Troughing roller assemblies for conveyers BROCKWAY ENG CO Ltd 3 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 17869/73 Heading B8A A bearing unit and support for each end of idler rollers 11, 12, 13 comprises an outer bearing housing 37 engageable with four locating formations provided on a support member 19. A first formation consists of a bridging element 41 on which the housing rests; a second formation comprises a convex inside face of a web 31 engaged by the end of the housing ; and the other formations comprise two flanges 32, 33 which engage parallel flat faces 34, 35 on the housing. A coil spring 39 is provided between the end of roller shaft 36 and inner bearing housing 38. If in production of the roller that portion of the shaft 36 supported in the housing 38 is slightly inclined to the roller's longitudinal axis, axial end load is resisted by web 31 at a point or points adjacent the roller axis. The arrangement minimizes "chattering" of the roller assembly and premature wear of the bearing. In place the curved web 31, the web may have a dimple. Alternatively, the housing 37 may have a domed end. A resilient member may be provided between the housing 37 and the support member 19. On the left-hand side of Fig. 2, the rollers are of the impact type.
|
