1473249 Switch contacts SIEMENS AG 8 Jan 1975 [23 Jan 1974] 706/75 Heading H1N An electrical contact to reduce erosion by material migration due to arcing comprises a carrier 1, of nickel or nickel iron alloy, for example, and a solid outer contact layer 3, preferably of a precious metal or precious metal alloy such as silver or palladium with copper, and is characterized by the provision of an intermediate layer 2 serving to establish electrical connection between the layers 1 and 3 and consisting of a copper-nickel alloy with a nickel content of between 42 and 46%, preferably 44%, by weight. In a second embodiment (Fig. 1b, not shown) a layer (4) of good electrically conducting material, such as copper or silver, is provided between the layers 3 and 2. A third embodiment (Fig. 1c, not shown) comprises a stacked structure of layers 2 and 3 on the carrier 1 which advantageously controls erosion when co-operating contacts are mutually tilted (Fig. 2b, not shown). |
