1467586 Interconnecting tendons BUILDINTER AG 18 Aug 1975 [14 May 1975] 20443/75 Heading D1T [Also in Division E2] A gripping plate 1 for connecting a first set of reinforcing tendons 11 to a second set of reinforcing tendons 13 has a first set of frusto-conical bores 33 tapering towards one face 25 of the plate 1 and a second set of frusto-conical bores 39 tapering towards the other face 27 of the plate 1, the bores housing tendon gripping wedges 37 and 43; and one of the sets of bores having means 47 for resiliently urging the wedges into their bores. A spacing member 17 may abut one face of the gripping plate and at least partly house the resilient means 47. As shown the spacing member 17 has peripheral slots 45 that are open at the peripheral edge of the member 17 and accommodate a helical spring 47 urging the wedges 43 into their conical bores. The first set of bores 33 may be arranged on a circle with a second set of bores 39 arranged on a larger circle. One or more of the bores may be inclined in the direction in which the tendons will extend from the connector. Thus the bore 39 could be inclined from the setting shown to a setting avoiding the bend that is illustrated in the tendon 13. Because the wedges 43 are held in place by springs 47, the tendons 13 can be merely pushed into the bores 39 where they are immediately gripped by the wedges 43. |
