<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing fine titanium powder and titanium-alloy powder of minimal contamination by a gas atomizing method. SOLUTION: In this method, the titanium powder and the titanium alloy powder can be manufactured by the gas atomizing method where bar-shaped raw materials constituted of compacts are subjected to high-frequency induction melting. Melting is performed while regulating the chlorine concentration in the bar-shaped raw materials to 300-1,500 ppm to manufacture the fine titanium powder and titanium alloy powder. Moreover, salts of magnesium chloride and sodium chloride or titanium containing these salts in high concentration is added and mixed to and with the raw materials to regulate the chlorine concentration in the bar-shaped raw materials to a value within the above range and carry out melting.</p> |
