Compact structural access and lifting unit for tall cylindrical structures, especially rocket boosters

This original structural access unit is used for mounting and assembly of segmental components (12) at locations (14) where their shape and dimensions correspond; it can also be used for maintenance and repair at their circumference (16).The framework (22) has a work platform (24) for personnel. A further lifting unit (26) is used for the mounting and assembly of adjacent components (12). Work platform and/or mounting unit are driven vertically past the structure, by threaded spindles (54, 56), with guides. The threaded guides are fixed against rotation by acceptance in the framework. Also claimed are the method and use, in mounting the large, segmental, hollow-cylindrical thin precision sections and domes of rocket booster casings.
