A remote shift for a vehicle variable-ratio gear comprises a shift shaft 3 which is moved axially to select a ratio and is rotated to establish the ratio, the shaft having an arm 7 connected by a ball joint 8 to a member 10 which is connected to the gear lever 9 and has an arm 11 articulated to a connecting rod 12 which is articulated at 14 to a fixed housing. Movement of the gear lever 9 perpendicularly to the member 10 rotates the member 10 and, due to arm 11 and connecting rod 12, shifts the member transversely to move the shift shaft 3 axially to select a gear. Movement of the gear lever 9 in the plane of member 10 rotates the shaft 3 to establish the selected gear. |
