PURPOSE:To obtain a high density yellow color image having good stability by providing a thermal transfer layer containing a dye selected from a pyridone type azo dye, a pyrazolone type azo dye and a qunioline type azo dye respectively represented by specific chemical formulae on a support. CONSTITUTION:A desired thermal transfer recording material is formed by providing a thermal transfer layer containing dyes represented by structural formulae I, II on a support such as tissue paper or a heat-resistant plastic film. At this time, the thermal transfer layer is formed by coating the support with an ink liquid prepared by dissolving one or both of said dyes in a solvent along with a binder and drying the formed ink layer. An image receiving material is superposed on this thermal transfer recording material to be heated according to image data to form an image composed of a chelate dye formed by the reaction of the dyes and a metal ion supply compound. The content of the dyes in the thermal transfer layer is set to 0.05-10g per m<2> of the support. |
