PURPOSE: A pretreatment method for waste water containing cyanogen using alkali chlorine method. CONSTITUTION: The method is pretreatment step for removal most cyanogen and heavy metal in waste water by adding sulfuric acid. The method can reduce the amount of NaOCl and make improvement of removal efficiency for cyanogen and heavy metal. The first step is adding 98% sulfuric acid to waste water in reactor and adjust pH 1.0-3.0 while sulfuric acid reacts cyanogen or heavy metal for 10 - 30 minutes. The second step is that waste water moves from reactor to aeration tank for condensation and settlement. The third step is separation of sediment and remained liquid. The last step is maintaining pH 12 or more by adding NaOH.
