In the method of and apparatus for fractionating biological cell material described and claimed in Specification 991,043, the expansion chamber 118 Fig.2, the lower portion of the valve head 91 <PICT:1089441/C6-C7/1> and that portion of constriction 116 that forms a valve seat for valve head 91 are cooled by passing the gaseous coolant through a plurality of cooling channels 127 extending obliquely and radially through the block 94 instead of through the single channel (121 in Fig. 1) of Specification 991,043. Sleeve 95 and collar 95a serve to reduce or to prevent heat transfer between block 94 and body 76. |
