PURPOSE:To automatically detect the dimension of a work by moving a work clamp in one direction for detecting one of work end faces with a fixed work end-face detection sensor and then, by moving the work clamp in the direction crossing the one direction for detecting the other work end face with the work end-face detection sensor. CONSTITUTION:In plate working on a work W by a plate working machine 1, first, the work W is clamped by a work clamp 29. This work W clamped by the work clamp 29 is positioned at an original position. Then, the work W clamped by the work clamp 29 is moved in one direction in the horizontal direction and one of work end faces is detected by a work end-face detection sensor 13 fixed to, for example, an upper part of a work table. Next, this work W is moved in the other direction to have the other work end face detected by this work end-face detection sensor 13 to detect the dimension of the work W. |
