摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the supervisory control system for an optical repeater coping flexibly with introduction, revision, transfer and extension of the optical repeater and able to easily locate its fault. CONSTITUTION:In each optical repeater, an optical branching filter 2 and an O/E 10 apply demultiplexing and demodulation to a supervisory control signal sent through a main signal subject to optical wavelength multiplexing and a termination section 11 terminates the demodulated optical repeater identification number and supervisory information. A signal processing section 15 selects supervisory information with a high transmission priority from the sent supervisory information and the supervisory information of its own station and sends the selected supervisory information to an E/O 13 together with an optical repeater identification number corresponding to the selected supervisory information. The E/O 13 converts the sent supervisory information or the like into other supervisory control signal having the same optical wavelength as that of the supervisory control signal. The supervisory control signal is sent while being subject to optical wavelength multiplex on the main signal optically amplified by an optical synthesizer 7. A terminal station supervises the optical repeater by using the optical repeater identification number and the supervisory information.
