PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a mounting operation to be carried out such that a horizontal state and the like are held even for an elongated scale member over its entire length with respect to a mounting base section having a step and the like on its mounting surface. SOLUTION: The scale member 5 is mounted on the mounting base section 3 while straddling the step 7, such that its high-position facing part 5A is fixed by a mounting bolt 15 by using a high-position area 3A as a reference plane, and its low-position facing part 5B is fixed by a height adjustable mounting bolt unit 16 which is composed of a mounting bolt 17, a height adjusting cam member 18 and a holding ring member 20, and compensates the height position with respect to the reference plane.
