PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having high durability and safety by forming an Ag or Ag alloy reflecting layer and forming a recording layer containing a cyanine dye of specified compsn. CONSTITUTION:This information recording medium 1 has a light-transmitting recording layer 12 on a substrate 11 and has a reflecting layer 13 on the recording layer 12. The reflecting layer 13 on the recording layer 12 formed on the substrate 11 consists of Ag or Ag alloy. Further, the recording layer 12 contains at least one kind of cyanine dye selected from among cyanine dyes expressed by formula I. In formula I, R1, R2 are alkyl groups of 3-8 carbon number, R3-R6 are alkyl groups of l-8 carbon number or aryl groups of 6-10 carbon number, X<-> is a counter anion except for single halogen ions, (n) is an integer >=2, and A, A' are substd. or unsubstd. benzene rings or condensed benzene ring residues. Since Ag is used for the reflecting layer instead of Au, the production cost is decreased. |
