1486299 Automatic banking system DIEBOLD Inc 10 Dec 1974 [11 Dec 1973] 53253/74 Heading G4H An automatic banking system comprises one or more remote unattended banking units 2 &c. connected to an operator-controlled central unit 1 which may be contacted by a customer at unit 2 when he requires assistance in carrying out a transaction. Each unit contains a keyboard 9, 15, a speaker 8, 21, a microphone 11, 22, and a video display 6, 14. Unit 1, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) in addition contains a video camera 7 for transmitting a picture of the operator to the remote station. Each unit 2, Fig. 2 (not shown) contains means for receiving and verifying a customer's credit card (Figs. 7, 8, not shown), and for receiving and dispensing cash. The various stages of a transaction (Figs. 9-16, not shown) are successively displayed at the respective display 14; if the customer has difficulty in understanding or performing the displayed instructions he signals the central unit (where a buzzer or bell and a lamp 16 are actuated). The operator can now either perform the transaction for the customer (using keyboard 9 and further switches 12) when the transaction is displayed at 6 and the camera picture at 14, or guidance can be given over the audio link to help the customer effect the transaction himself. Connection between unit 1 and units 2, &c. is via a relay-operated switching unit 13A, Fig. 6 (not shown). |
