<p>1346459 Apparatus for running-in taper roller bearings SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 19 April 1971 [17 Feb 1970] 22277/71 Heading F2A Apparatus for use in running-in a taper roller bearing 1, i.e. correctly aligning tapered rollers 14 in races 2 and 3, comprises a bar 6 having a drum 12 secured thereto and having an aperture parallel to the axis of the drum and at right angles to the axis of the bar. The bar is channel shaped and has two apertures and a recess in the flanges at each end to co-operate with inner race 2. A similar bar is positioned at the other end of race 2 and the bars are joined by tie bars 8, 9. Outer race 3 is in a housing bore (not shown) and is axially stressed by covers, (not shown). Drum 12 has a spigot 13 to which a rope can be fixed and then wrapped around the drum. When the rope is unwound, e.g. by a crane, the drum and inner race 2 rotate causing or adjusting radial loading of the bearing. This causes squeezing and movement of the rollers 14 towards contact flanges 15 until they bear against such flanges. Running-in is completed when all the rollers bear against their contact flanges 15.</p> |
