External driving mirror with swing-back system - has interlocking cones with adjustable tensioner using spring and pressure plates

The wing mirror support arm (4) is mounted on a pivot shaft (7) fitted into an inner cone (3) which fits into an outer cone (2) as part of the securing clamp. The pivot shaft is held inside the cone by a pressure plate (10) and an internal spring (14). The mounting plate has ratchet grooves (11) so that stable mirror settings are obtained. The whole assembly is secured by a tightening nut (17) from the outside of the system. The mirror shaft is secured in the mounting by a securing pin (6) so that the mirror can be adapted to fit either side of the vehicle.
