PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition from which a polarized light emitting film having excellent polarized light emitting property and durability thereof and having high surface hardness can be stably obtained by a coating and film-forming process, a wavelength conversion member including the liquid crystal composition and a method for producing the wavelength conversion member, a backlight system including the wavelength conversion member, and a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition from which a polarized light emitting film 1 can be obtained by a coating and film-forming process comprises quantum rods 4 that are excited by incident excitation light to emit fluorescent light, and a polymer liquid crystal compound having a mesogen 3 in the main chain 2; and the mesogen includes a phenylene structure and/or a cyclohexylene structure as a partial structure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1B
