PURPOSE: To provide a gas discharge panel which is driven with a low voltage and has a long lifetime without encapsulation of mercury, characterized particularly by using an oxide as a cathode material. CONSTITUTION: A cathode 23 of a gas discharge panel 11 is composed of a lower electrode 23a and an upper electrode 23b. The upper electrode 23b is located on the lower electrode 23a, and accordingly on the mating surface of upper electrode 23a with a display electrode 17. The upper electrode 23b consists of a structure including a conductive oxide, and lanthanum calcium chromium cobaltite (Lax Ca1-x Cry Co1-y O3 ) is used as the electroconductive oxide, where the conditions that 0<x<1 and 0<y<1 should be met. |
